I just wanted to let people know of the bad experiences I have had at this place. thousand oaks powersports. Horrible service and poor quality of work. I had an egine rebuild done to my 05 yamaha R6 and was charged 3800 dollars. eventually I got the bike back. The problems started right way. I got home to find my seat was left loose. upon further inspection i started to notice things were either missing, loose or incorrectly installed. perfect example instead of using a hose clamp for a coolant hose i discovered they had used a zip tie. I also found coolant leaking from a hose. I thought taking my bike to a dealership would get a job done right. Boy was i wrong and in for a hell of a ride. My bike did not last two weeks. it was making noises at high rpms, underperforming and getting poor gas mileage. after repeated visits they agreed to look at my bike. but i had to offer my extended warranty because it seemed like they did not want to take responsiblity for their mess up. almost a year later they finally had taken apart my bike and discovered that they had installed a wrong crank and bearings and blamed it on the manufacture. so my extended warranty had to pay for all the parts that i had already paid for 3800 dollars worth. so i paid all this money for nothing because it did not fix my bike the first time. they also managed to damage the exterior of my bike in multiple areas including a dink on my gas tank. but here is the icing on the cake. after a year of headaches i got my bike back i have been enjoying it, it has 1700 hundred miles since the second rebuild. the bike feels better still has a noise at ten grand but i get the right gas mileage. it performs ok but not how it was before i took it to Thousand oaks yamaha. the other day i was riding home and felt my bike wobble at around 50-60 mph i got off the freeway thinking i had flat. upon inspection of my bike i found that the rear axle that holds my rear tire in place was coming off because the nut was no longer in place. so i called the dealer and told them about it and they said that they have never heard of that happening and that they did not have to remove my chain and tension it to pull my engine. well according to my repair manual you do. and not only does the chain have to be tensioned but i realized that the axle was installed from the wrong side. my bike had been at the dealer for more than a year. no one else has worked on my bike. they incorrectly installed this very important piece. i guess no one cares to do a quality control check on bikes. im very lucky that i did not get into an accident. i have been riding this bike with confidence that a dealer would do the right job but i was wrong. just want people to know that they do not do quality work at this place and make motorcycles dangerous to ride. i dont see myself riding my bike until i get it inspected by a real professional dealership
