AWFUL experience!

1. The man in finance that did the paperwork was a liar. He said certain items "came with the car" - and it turns out, no they didn't. My down payment disappeared into these supposedly complimentary regions.

2. The people you sign the paperwork with are supposed to be trained and certified. Which is, of course, why your money disappears. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the line that states your loan with the bank is what your loan is. The down payment is on the paperwork, but you need to see it subtracted from the loan line. Of course, if you're unaware of this, you'll ask yourself later where your money is. Apparently, this is something most people are unaware of, and which A.V. Ford used to its advantage and my disadvantage. They should have made me 100% aware of where my money was going, which they did NOT.

3. After realizing how I'd been lied to, I wanted the situation corrected. This was a mess as well. I was treated rudely and bounced between departments. In the end, nothing was resolved.

4 a. One item was corrected, and the refund was supposed to be sent to the bank, with the paperwork. A month later, and the bank still didn't have all the appropriate paperwork for it. This of course effects the interest you pay on your vehicle (a spiteful act of defiance, perhaps?). When I spoke with the bank, they had to re-contact A.V.Ford to find out where the rest of the money was. This is interesting, since the bank has a policy of a 100% refund if cancelled within 60 days. I cancelled within 30 days, so there was no reason the bank shouldn't have received all the appropriate money.

4 b. I would like to add that when I went to the bank to make sure everything was straightened out, I had apparently received a check from the owner of A.V. Ford for half the cost of the security system. It was labeled as a "gift" and included some of the tax on the product. It didn't make too much sense to us why the letter was sent to the bank and not to our home address, but it got where it needed to go, regardless.

5. Bottom line, I was lied to and mistreated. As far as I know, the bank still hasn't received all the funds, and I'm certainly out a chunk of hard earned cash. I will NEVER support this company with my money again, and heaven help the next car company I deal with. Read everything 2 or 3 times if necessary, ask a thousand questions, and make SURE that you're paying for something you actually want. Don't let them chat you up while you're trying to concentrate, or sway you out of reading it. Don't let them belittle or talk down to you, because they will. At A.V. Ford, they do anything to part the fool from his money. Don't be that fool!
