Review 10/9/2011
A.A. Family Dental is Dr. Jasleen Brar’s practice. What she says goes, and she rules with an iron fist. She stands behind a revolving door of capable dentists who have run screaming into the night. I have been going to this practice for 7 years up until 2 months ago when I too, jumped ship. I have had a total of four dentists since I started to now. Each time another dentist left, I was not notified by the office when booking a follow up appointment, and when she would “magically” appear beside my chair assuming that I wanted her nastiness (see all other reviews). She has an incredibly awkward bedside manner and is aggressive overall, if you get my drift. My experience is as follows. In 2008 I paid about $3,500 for three crowns on molars (with insurance). Two weeks after one the 25 year porcelain crowns was sealed over the remaining tooth, I experienced some real discomfort -- the endodontist they had referred me to had not completely removed the tooth’s root in the root canal. So, two weeks after getting this tooth, they drilled through the tooth and then did a filling on top of it. They explained that this is just what happens, on occasion, in dentistry. Too bad. Unfortunately, my teeth started to have deteriorating health in the past two years. I was confounded by this as I never missed my 6 month appointments, and yet the duration and quality of my cleanings were becoming shorter and shorter. The final straw with this dental practice is when two months ago (2011), when my then dentist by default, Dr. Curtis Platt, told me that at the cleaning appt. that the filling had fallen out of the bored-out crown and that I really needed a $700 deep cleaning. I scheduled an appointment for the following week to have it filled. Once at the appt. to have it filled and in the chair, I was told by Dr. Platt that “He was unable to fill my crown as it was now office policy that they no longer fill crowns. No exceptions would be made.” He then actually suggested that I go home and “Write a letter to Dr. Jasleen Brar explaining my situation – “and that he has actually seen some positive results from this.” I told him to forget it and left. Two weeks later, I had switched practices completely to Affinity Dental Center in Santa Ana, (714) 953-6881 (5 minutes from A.A. Family). They did a composite filling on the crown, and also discovered that I had 3 partial cavities that A.A. did not detect. They also said I did not need a deep cleaning. I am banking on A.A. Family letting their janitors clean my teeth that contributed to that. Finally, during my intake it was explained to me that Affinity Dental guarantees that patients are satisfied with their dental work for one year – in other words if the root canal situation had happened at their office, they would have just ordered another crown for me, gratis.
