I dropped off a pair of older stretch vinyl boots that I hadn't worn for some time to have the heels replaced. They had worn down. Due to the time they had sat in their box unworn, I looked them over while handing them to the clerk to be sure the man-made material hadn't gotten brittle or cracked, etc. They seemed still wearable but when I picked them up the vinyl was peeling and at places completely missing (the felt lining was showing). The clerk had said they would clean up the boots and I feel that when they did that, the material began to break down. Understandable since they were older boots. But what ticks me off is that there was no phone call or a pointing out of the issue when I picked them up. They were in a bag and as I recall, he just pulled the bottom of the boot out so that I could see the heel. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the boots were completely destroyed. Black vinyl was just falling off.
I would have NEVER had the heels replaced if there was any chance this could have happened. They are of no use now. I know for a fact the boots did not look like this prior to my dropping them off. When I took them back to complain, he at 1st completely denied in poor English that he was at fault but after several minutes of going back and forth and much of it he either not understanding me or feigning he didn't understand, he decided to give me $10 back. I left the boots with him I was so angry. I felt a full refund of the $20 was in order OR, I told him to give me a credit toward another shoe repair. I'd gladly bring another pair in.
I will never use him again. Not only was the service extremely poor, I feel the prices were too high.
